Event: Old Town Arts & Crafts Fair
When: Saturday, July 27, 10am - 6pm

Location: NEW location Waterfront Park NORTH - Old Town Alexandria (The new Waterfront Park combines the original King Street Park and Waterfront Park sites with the sites of the former Old Dominion Boat Club building and parking lot to create a seamless transition between Old Town’s historic retail corridor and the water. The interim park features an open plaza, a waterfront promenade, and shade structures.)

About: Hosted by Volunteer Alexandria for over 35 years, this event takes place in the summer in Old Town Alexandria from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Waterfront Park. The event offers residents and visitors of all ages shop and browse the dozens of vendors. Art and crafts range from pottery and paintings to recycled jewelry and glass products, home & garden, clothing for people and pets, and much more. Food vendors and trucks are available as well as alcohol for those who like to enjoy a cold beer while enjoying the show. The event is FREE to the public.

Learn the latest innovations in papercutting, 3-D printing, mask making, pottery, weaving and much more from an amazing group of artists and makers. This workshop is being held in conjunction with the "New Beginnings" Exhibit at DRA:

Join us at Del Ray Artisans from February 1-24, 2019 for New Beginnings art exhibit featuring beautiful artwork created by reuse. These creations incorporate at least half of their materials from either found objects, recycled materials or older works of art. The EPA estimates that 75% of the American waste stream is recyclable, but we only recycle about 30% of it. People have taken to eBay and CraigsList for years to rehome their used goods in exchange for cash, and now many are utilizing give-away sites like Freecycle.org and BuyNothing too. Artists are often among the most conscientious recyclers, by reusing others’ discards to create unique art.

Thousands of residents and visitors of all ages stroll King Street and the Waterfront Park to enjoy jewelers – silversmith & beaders, woodworkers, pottery makers, soap crafters, items for your home and garden, clothing, glass makers, unique painters, sculptures, fabric artists, and much more. We offer beer, cider and food and everyone will have a chance to leave their mark on a boat with paint. FREE public event! Fun for the whole family.

One of my favorite events of the year is approaching fast: Art on the Avenue! WiRealm by Tamara will be set up at Space W36 (on the west side between Windsor Ave and Howell Ave, on the same block as Bon Vivant and Evening Star). Come enjoy a day of fall festivities!

What: Art on the Avenue is an annual multi-cultural arts festival celebrating the community’s diversity through the arts in the Del Ray neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia. This festival is held on the first Saturday in October, rain or shine, kid-friendly & pet-friendly! Every year, over 50,000 visitors stroll down Mt. Vernon Avenue in Del Ray, Alexandria, between Bellefonte and Hume Avenues – people are greeted by over 300 artists (jewelers – silversmith & beaders, woodworkers, pottery makers, soap crafters, glass makers, unique painters, sculptures, fabric artists), musicians (Irish, folk, rock n’ roll, country and more), and food vendors (hot dogs, BBQ, Indian, crab cakes, chocolate bananas dipped on a stick, home made cider donuts).

"Clowns have been the subjects of paintings and graphics for centuries. Clowning Around is an exhibit that reveals local artists’ inner clowns through art in fun, playful, sadistic, comedic, and tragic ways. Clowns have always evoked a variety of emotions from people. Many people are happy clown believers, drawn towards fanciful circus graphics or sympathetic weeping hobo clowns. Others prefer their clowns to be sinister figures lurking in dark alleys. Whether it’s a childlike whimsy or journey into a carnival of crazy clowns, it’s your world to explore.

The Clowning Around exhibit runs August 4-27, 2017 at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are: Thursdays 12-6pm (First Thursdays 12-9pm), Fridays 12-9pm, Saturdays 12-9pm, and Sundays 12-6pm. The gallery is free, open to the public, and handicap accessible."

WiRealm by Tamara will be a vendor at DC Swim Week 2017! Taking place at the French Embassy, this will be my first time participating in something of this caliber with this type of clientele. I'll be making new pieces and promoting as much as possible. I’ll even be advertised with their event, network with wholesalers, models, photographers AND my pieces will be on a runway in front of a completely new group of people … YAY!

It also showcases the work of creative women artists and artisans, including jewelry, pottery, glasswork, prints, notecards, hats, scarves, purses and other accessories. Even handcrafted soaps, chocolates, and doggie treats! Admission is free and refreshments are provided. Avoid the dreaded malls and enjoy a relaxing afternoon shopping amongst friends. This workshop is for individuals who are interested in learning basic techniques of wire jewelry. You will get to experiment with different tools and wire sizes, while creating basic and useful jewelry components.

Bring your patience and be ready to work in small detail. No prior experience necessary—if you have never picked up a jewelry tool before, this workshop is for you!

13th Annual Old Town Arts & Crafts Festival takes place (right after the weekly Farmer's Market) at City Hall on Saturday June 13th, 2015, 3 - 8pm. It's a family-friendly event hosted by Volunteer Alexandria and I'm very excited to be a part of it. Come check it out!
